P is for Pendelton
Dr. Cyrus Edmund Pendleton (1876-1950) graduated from Bacon Academy and the Yale University School of Medicine in 1903. He briefly practiced medicine in New Haven and Hebron before settling in Colchester where he was the only physician and saw patients in his home office for almost 50 years. As Town Clerk, Dr. Pendelton had access to an archive of town records and used them to write numerous articles about Colchester’s history. He also served the community as Selectman, Judge of Probate, District Health Officer as well as the New London County Medical Examiner.
